About us

La Libélula Cooperative is a collective of Spanish speaking immigrants from Latin American with a strong sense of social justice. We work to make our communities visible, connected and engaged through events and placemaking, knowledge sharing and offering consulting services in Spanish and English.

  • Fiorella is an urbanist, engagement specialist, and activist with extensive experience doing engagement work. Fiorella, originally from Peru, left the architecture field to pursue a Masters in Urban Studies at SFU. Since then she has worked at SFU’s Vancity Office of Community Engagement (VOCE) where she engages communities through public programming and knowledge democracy with a focus in arts, social and environmental justice and urban issues.  In addition to her official work, Fiorella has spent countless hours envisioning engagement projects in her communities.

  • Giuliana studied Law and Education in Peru. For the past two years she has been living in Vancouver, where she currently works as a Settlement & Employment Specialist at DIVERSEcity. Giuliana has coordinated and designed projects that connect immigrants and refugees, in particular with the latin american community in Vancouver. In 2019, she co-created the project Pequeñ@s Explorador@s that obtained funding from the Small Neighbourhood Grant from the Vancouver Foundations. In 2020, Giuliana and her partner won SFU’s Student Community Engagement competition with 2 projects aimed at newcomers and refugees and 2 Small Neighbourhood Grants from the Vancouver Foundation have focused on strengthening the relationship between parents and children and the use of Spanish, fostering spaces for Latin American children to connect with their language and culture.


  • Carolina Aguirre is a Salvadoran Canadian Art Educator and Multi-disciplinary Artist based in Vancouver. She has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a Major in Art Education from Concordia University. Her work focuses on portraiture and abstract art. Having a thirst to create, she continues to develop her own style and to find new projects in portraiture to enrich her art skills.

    As a Community art educator, she is Inspired by the constructivism learning approach and gives great value to the experience she provides in each lesson. Her objective is to keep creating art education programs that can hold space for meaningful connections and conversations. Her interests are self-love, Identity and empowerment, through art.


  • Pamela is a designer originally from Venezuela. With a background in fashion and film, she has decided to focus her career in graphic and digital content creation. She joined La Libelula for the Perceptions of Dual Identities project as a facilitator and digital content creator. After participating in this project Pamela was very inspired by how art can bring a community together and joined as a core team member. She also works at Solid State Community Industries where she is part of the Communications Team bringing support to the multiple co-ops under this Non-Profit.
