Memories of Soul

Workshops

Session One – A Space for Stories and Presence

We began the first session with a simple but meaningful prompt: a shared story. Participants were invited to speak about what brought them to the workshop, the ways they've navigated personal or collective challenges, and what support or skills they still long for. It was a moment to listen, to connect, and to recognize the strength in each voice.

To close, we took close-up photographs of their hands, feet, and parts of their faces—small but powerful portraits that reflect identity, journey, and presence in the space. Each image is a quiet testament to who they are and the stories they carry.

Session Two – The Past: What we lived

In our second session, we turned our attention to the past. Participants were invited to reflect on an image of themselves—either as children or adults—that lives in their memory, one they wish they could see captured in a photograph.

Through drawing and writing exercises, they gave form to these remembered versions of themselves. It was a quiet, introspective session, where memory became material for creativity, healing, and self-recognition.

Session Three: The Present: What is felt.

For this session, each participant brought a personal photograph—an image holding meaning, memory, or emotion. Through drawing, painting, and writing directly onto these photos, they explored and reimagined what the image carried.

The process opened space for reflection on loss—on absences, on what or who is no longer part of their present. It was a tender and creative act of reclaiming memory, allowing participants to engage with grief not only as pain, but as something that can also be transformed through art.

We set up a photography studio to take full-body portraits of each participant. This was not just about taking a picture—it was about capturing how they see and feel themselves after the journey of the workshop.

The portraits reflect presence, strength, and transformation. They stand as visual affirmations of each participant’s story, honoring who they are today and how far they’ve come.

Session Four: The Future: What is perceived.

Session Five: Wrap up session and Celebration

In our final session, participants revisited unfinished pieces from earlier workshops—returning to images, words, and memories they still wanted to shape. It was a space for closure, but also for continuity: honoring the process and giving each work the time it needed to become whole.

To conclude the series, we held a private celebration featuring the participants’ creations. The showcase brought together photography, drawing, painting, and written reflections—each piece offering a glimpse into personal journeys shaped by memory, identity, and transformation. It was an intimate celebration of voice, resilience, and creative expression.
