Workshops

Session 1: Intro to Muralism

A day of artistic exploration began with the group walking on a tour alongside the artist, experiencing the vibrant local murals of the area. They found inspiration in the details and messages of each artwork. Afterward, the teenagers were whisked away to the artist’s studio, where, guided by Ari, they dove into painting exercises that encouraged experimentation and self-expression.

Session 2: My Journey, My Identity

In a self-reflective exercise, the teenagers were invited to explore the core questions: "Who am I?", "Where do I come from?", and "Where am I heading?"

Using collage as their medium, they visually narrated their life stories—layering images, textures, and symbols to represent their past, present, and imagined futures.

Session 3: Transforming Pain Into Beauty

In an exploration of resilience and creativity, the youth came together to reflect on the powerful theme: "Transforming pain into beauty." Drawing from the artwork they created in earlier workshops, each piece served as a vessel for emotions, memories, and personal stories.

Guided by Ari de la Mora, they combined their individual works into a unified composition—symbolizing a shared journey of turning struggle into strength. These transformed pieces were then incorporated into a large-scale sketch on a paper wall, prepared by the facilitator.

In the final workshop of this transformative artistic journey, a group of youth, guided by the artists, collaborated to shape the final design for a stunning public mural.

Through a series of engaging activities, brainstorming sessions, and hands-on exercises, the group translated their collective vision into a cohesive mural concept.
